Volunteering in the Community

We encourage our team to give back to the community through volunteer work. A key initiative we support is the Special Olympics’ Open Eye Program, where we help provide new glasses and swimming goggles to over 600 athletes. It's our way of improving lives through better vision and community care.

We've been proudly caring for Kiwi eyes since 1925. What began as a small, community-focused practice has grown into a trusted group of eight practices across the greater Waikato and Bay of Plenty region.

A big part of that journey was Adrian Paterson. His name became known for clinical excellence and genuine community care. Under his leadership, Adrian Paterson Optometrists became a household name. In the mid-90s, Adrian joined forces with David Burn of Balfour Irvine and Webster, bringing together decades of experience and a shared vision for exceptional eye health.

Today, as Paterson Burn, we honour that legacy every day. We’re proud of where we’ve come from, and even more excited about where we’re going—continuing to help New Zealanders see clearly and live well for generations to come.
